Hi! I’m Jules~
Welcome to Disorganized Mind!
Disorganized Mind is a YouTube channel, TikTok channel, Instagram, and companion website built around one goal: making mental health education genuinely reachable, not just technically available. Every video and every page here exists to help you with understanding your own mind, giving you usable tools and creative examples to demonstrate how the mind works.
This was all born of an idea. The idea that mental health care should be accessible for all — accessible for people who aren't sure they'd belong in the therapy room, for people who have been failed or shut out by the systems that were supposed to help them, and for anyone who's simply curious about how their own mind works.
Below, is my statement of intent for this space, including why I built it, who it's for, and what you can expect from me in the future.
Statement of Intent:
Why This Space Exists
I'm a licensed clinician and supervisor, and over the years I have worked to make mental health and wellbeing accessible for every client who stepped into my office. But I saw how outside my office, the mental health system was not always reaching the people who really needed it. Whether bureaucracy, cultural influences, or finances, there are things limiting the amount of people who can access the system. I got tired of watching people carry pain alone that the right information, at the right time, could have made so much lighter. Seeing my frustration with the system, my spouse had an idea. A dream for me to share my knowledge online to try to reach more people than can fit in my office. So whether it’s a lifetime of being told you don't qualify for help, or that your town, your insurance, or your bubble have decided whether you get to reach for support, you don’t have to listen to those voices here. I am making these videos, along with this site to go with them, all aimed at one thing: getting mental health education to as many people as possible, especially the people who've had the hardest time getting it anywhere else.
Who This is For
This is for the person who's never been to therapy and doesn't know how to find a therapist, tell if their therapist is a good fit, or what to do if the first go at therapy didn't work. It's for anyone curious about their own mind, not because something's "wrong" with them, but because understanding yourself is just useful. And it's especially for people the system has let down: those without insurance, without a nearby therapist, those who are from communities that have every reason to be wary of mental health care, or those who were never given the words for what they've been carrying. If that's you, this was built with you specifically in mind.
Everyone is Welcome Here
I recognize psychology’s harmful history of racism, sexism, and prejudice of all kinds, a legacy I condemn, and I strive toward a decolonized, more equitable practice. Therefore, there’s no room in our work today for prejudice - not racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, ableism, ageism, or judgment about anyone's body, income, or faith. If you show up here, you're welcome. Full stop. This space is neurodivergent-affirming, plural-affirming, LGBTQIA2S+ affirming, body-inclusive, and trauma-informed. I want my work to be grounded in decolonization and harm reduction and I continue to work towards that goal. This isn’t a one-time effort, these are real, ongoing commitments I am committed to. I believe in the social model of disability, which means I understand that different ways of thinking does not mean someone is in need of fixing. I don’t think of anyone as being “broken.” For me, there is no “normal.” I'd rather understand how your mind actually works than push you toward pretending to be someone else's idea of typical.
Looking At The Bigger Picture
These same values are why I'm openly anti-ABA and anti-ableist.Disability doesn't need to be "fixed" to deserve respect. I also try to keep sight of the bigger picture: the systems around us that shape our understanding. I acknowledge that where I live, and where many of you live, we have to work within the medical model and system. So I teach about those ideas and understandings as well. I aim to talk about these systems in an anti-oppressive way, and I lean toward restorative justice over punishment when it comes to accountability and repair — both in the world and in how I handle conflict here. Above all, I believe in autonomy, meaning you know what is best for you. I respect and try to listen to and believe those with lived experience first and foremost. It’s an easy statement to make when things are going well, with no conflict; I try to hold onto these beliefs especially when things are hard. But I do ask for understanding, because as much as I believe in these tenets I am not perfect. I will make mistakes. And I will also own those mistakes and strive to learn and grow, every day.
My Commitment to You
None of this is a performance for the camera; a mask I take off once the screen goes dark. This is me. I hold myself to honesty, doing no harm, protecting people's dignity, and owning it when I get something wrong…not because my license requires it, but because it's how I want to live. It’s who I am. The license just means someone else is checking my work, too. And I want to be upfront about one more thing: nothing here replaces therapy. A video can't know your history or what's actually going on in your life the way a real therapeutic relationship can; after all, research shows that the quality of the relationship between client and therapist, not any technique or modality they use, is one of the strongest predictors of whether therapy actually helps. I can’t offer that here…what I can offer is honest information, explained as clearly as I can. So whether you end up in a therapist's office or just walk away understanding yourself a little better, you're starting from a more informed, less alone place than before.
Thank You For Being Here, and For Being YOU!!
However you found your way here…curiosity, a hard season, wanting to learn before trying therapy for the first time, or just wanting to understand people a little better, I'm glad you did. I hope what you find here helps.
